Stallions at Stud

The stallions in the breeding program at Nandeye Stud are mainly from the Heritage Radium line of horses, however in later years there has been some infusion of Doc Freckles Oak bloodlines. The original mare line going back to Ocean Blue T.B. purchased by Ab Field in 1911, were firstly bred to Bronze Bull T.B. (X The Bullseye) and then to Paleroo Peter (Dimray / Rivoli bloodlines). The first foundation stallion stallion for Nandeye Stud was Tufrey’s Cadman purchased from the Tufrey Family from Rocky Creek. Cadman carried a double cross of Cecil bloodlines through Radium / Chan and Serene / Percy as well as Young Valais. Cadman was crossed with the Newtown Wonder mare Bendee Rebecca Jane to produce the highly successful show stallion Nandeye Fernando, Supreme Led ASH at 1983 RAS and N.W.Branch Futurity winner.

The high performance mare, Strathmua Saphire (X Elliots Creek Cadet) was bred to Warrenbri Romeo to produce two stallions for Mark Field, being Ocean Demise and Ocean Wave. Mark retained Ocean Wave in the Ocean Stud and in association with prominent horseman Michael Wilson, campaigned the young stallion Wave in working classes and campdraft events. A large number of Nandeye mares were also bred to this young well-performed show and campdrafting sire before his untimely death at 6 years of age in 1999. Saphire had also been joined to Docs Freckles Oak and the resultant colt Ocean River Oak continues to be joined to a number of mares. Another Docs Freckles Oak colt, Oaks Ebony was purchased by the Field Family, in partnership with Waymere Stud at the NCHA sales at Tamworth in 1999 and a number of mares were joined to this young sire while he stood for a period at Nandeye Stud.

Currently Nandeye Stud is concentrating on breeding back to stallions with Reality bloodlines. The Field Family purchased Soda Falcon (X Warrenbri Romeo from a Nabinabah Shogun mare) and campaigned by Michael Wilson, this young stallion performed very well at the 2005 National Championships and sired a number of progeny for Nandeye Stud before being sold on the Cook Family at Goondiwindi. Mark Field had joined by AI to Warrenbri Romeo, the well-performed mare Tecoma Casuarina ( Docs Freckles Oak X Condamine Prudence S.O.D. Regal Gift) and the colt resulting from this mating, Ocean Blue has been retained by Ocean Stud and is also producing quality foals for Nandeye Stud.

The successful broodmare, Yarramine Robyn (X Yarramine Swagman) was mated to Resistol (Seventy Seven Revenge X Robs Traminer S.O.D. Rosesbrook Abou) to produce the quality colt Nandeye Resistance. Ridden by Michael Wilson, Resistance was 2nd at the 2006 National Futurity and State Winner and has gone on to perform extremely well in the 2007 National Maturity as well as being a finalist at the 2007 Cloncurry Challenge.

Resistance has been producing quality progeny, however the 2011 season will be his last drop of foals as he died as the result of a tragic accident on 10th February 2011. Some mares have been joined this year to Mark Field's new black colt Willdraft Jet (Soda Justice X Ocean Midnight).
